Comment:
I feel that I’ve made good progress this week working on the ten individual sections. Some are coming along better than others and a few spots will require some focussed work as for “hard bars/phrases”. Noticeably, the first two and last two sections (1,2 & 9,10) have gradually becoming more instinctive as the week has gone on.

A change of tack is needed for this weekend and next week. So after thinking it through, I decided to make the key target ‘Memorisation’. To achieve this I increased the working time for each section to 10 minutes. On the first section I found that I needed three full task repeats (30 minutes in total) to be able to play it through without looking at the score (it’s the longest of the sections). There were several phrases that needed a dozen or more cycles to tame. As a result of this I initially changed all the other sections to 15 minutes, which means 150 minutes to cover the piece each day!. This is not practical for me, so I increased a few of them and left the remainder at 5 minutes. During the next week as sections become memorised I’ll re-tweak all the times, to bring other sections into focus for more intense work.
