Practice Log (version 1.1)

Total practice time for 12/05/2010 : 60 minutes

Number of tasks: 3

Task details (Time finished, Type, Title, Duration):
19:47 Warmup : Richard Meyrick’s 15 minute Finger Workouts :18 mins
20:10 Scales&Arps:Scales 2 – Dmaj, Bmin,(2#), Amaj,F#min,(3#):16 mins
21:21 Pieces : Personal Je.. Bolt together sections together :26 mins

The scales are improving! I’m now on my second pass around all the major and minor scales. I’m enjoying these and can see improvement compared to the first time (10 days ago). Before playing each minor scale (these are the weakest), I try to remember the notes and then check whether they are correct from the score. My left hand is improving, and tonight I tried 3 x 15 minutes of cold compress on my elbow, which greatly reduced the numbness in 5th finger LH. This, together with the symptoms seems indicative of cubital tunnel syndrome/epicondylitis. I’m going to keep this pracitce up and together with the exercises see how it progress. It is so much better than a month ago.

The main piece has not progressed as I hoped. Mostly due to veryt patchy pracitce during the last month or so, although the hours have mounted up in total. The tricky bits are just not ready for bolting together at tempo. I think they need a lot more slow practice for longer times (say 10-20minutes per phrase). This means it is very unlikely to be ready for the ABF recital this Friday, which is dissappointing.

Still, at the end of this week, I’m going to "drop" this piece from practice for a while and start a month of repertoire review, basically working my way through the pieces previously submitted to ABF recitals…. So no new pieces for a while, I do wish I had more time for practice!!!!
