Comment:
As well as the Pianist Magazine piece, I also tried sight-reading pieces form my very first book when I started as a kid: it went "OK", but then it ought to…..

I know now why I’m a decypherer/decoder, it seems the my problem with sight reading started (not doing any) from day one as a beginner. So I’ve run a search of the local library network for sight-reading pieces ("vol 1") and found that they carry quite a few different series. This means I can get all the Vol 1s on loan first and so forth….

The pianist magazine piece (Leopold Motzart) went badly. The primary problem was decoding the rhythm (a triplet on the first beat of ¾) with leading accidentals. But it was fun. Again after listening, I wanted to go back and learn it, but that’s not the object of the exercise.

The main piece showed further progress tonight. Afterwards I played several other pieces through from memory (not practiced so no task above for these).
