Further progress on the new piece…

Section 6: halved the overall time spent on this section, whilst increasing the initial start tempo and for the first time it seemed "familiar" and not completely new…

Section 4: Worked up to the highest tempo just shy of 3/4 full tempo and off course it all fell apart. Going back down to a tempo 10% faster than the start tempo and it seemed very easy.

Section 1: Worked on memorisation. Must take it slowly tomorrow, just to help remember the different patterns. It was much easier to make it fluid and cohesive, since whilst it’ simple note wise it’s all over the keyboard and a swine to read whilst making all the jumps.

Section 3: This is the first verse of the song. Just had a recce through this section today, just to figure out the chords and melody/accompanyment structures. This was almost relaxation! I need to do more of this, recognising that the chords are C#minor, G#minor and so forth really helps knowing what to do. This looks like a job for lunchtimes.

So a major landmark was achieved today by working on 4 of 8 sections including the two (obviously) hardest. The key target this week remains getting Section 6 up to target tempo (less than half full tempo). The plan then is to hit section 3 hard at the weekend or early next week).
