Sight Reading: Jacques’ “Sticky Toffee” (from “A Bag of Sweets”). This is a mock ragtime and went very badly. Hardly sight-reading at all. Meshing the left hand that jumps about and the right hand with little eight note “twists” was nigh on impossible. But like yesterday’s piece (Herbie Funky) it’s just this feature the means it deserves further study

Scales: Went OK. Completed another cycle around the circle of fifths. So do I increase the tempo? Dunno?

Pieces: Both went well today. Spent 3 minutes or so on each “phrase” of the Level-2 piece. Generally played the Level-3 piece in sections and occasionally played it end-to-end. It seems to be almost memorised although this wasn’t a target. So no doubt this is fairly superficial. I think I’ll need to make this a target.

After formal practice, had a lot of fun just playing and noodling about.
