Practice Log for 02/04/2012 at 21:36:27

Today I changed the study pattern for scales.

In addition to playing quarter, eighth and sixteenth notes, I added in triplets (so 1, 2, 3 & 4 notes per metronome click). This gives a much more progressive change from the too slow eighth notes, to the too fast sixteenths.  Today I did swing rhythms at eighths and staccato at triplets (in addition to legato for both).  I also lowered the tempo of all the scales from 92 to 84 (which feels manageable at sixteenths). Everything went well and the triplets greatly helped and were a nice intermediary step between the doubling of speed from eighths to sixteenths.
